The development of realistic 3D geographic representation is a major challenge for the upcoming real-time local search applications being developed by the PagesJaunes Group.
PagesJaunes’ new touchscreen 3D model of Paris, presented as a global exclusive at the “Futur en scène” event in 2009, enabled visitors to immerse themselves in the streets of the capital in an ultra-realistic way and move around intuitively on a virtual journey through the city.
This technology, developed in partnership with Archividéo, the pioneer in consumer 3D, enables the PagesJaunes Group to offer 3D-based applications with which users can search for practical information by means of immersive navigation among the buildings. Major cities in France and Spain have already been modelled.
This application is a natural complement to search methods based on maps and aerial views. It uses cutting-edge technology in the fields of hyper-realistic 3D modelling and interactive animation.
